Instructions

Welcome to Operation. The goal of "Operation" is to use mathematical operations and numbers to create an expression that equals the target number. The challenge increases as you progress through levels, with each level having a different target number.

How to Play

  1. Start the Game:
    • Click the "Start" button to begin the game. You will start at Level 1.
  2. Select a Difficulty:
    • At the beginning of each level, you'll be prompted to select a difficulty level. Each difficulty level corresponds to a range of target numbers.
    • Click on a difficulty button to generate a target number within that range.
  3. Create Your Expression:
    • You will see a set of number cards and symbol cards (e.g., +, −, ×, ÷).
    • Click on the cards to move them to the "live area" where you build your expression.
    • Arrange the cards in the correct order to form a mathematical expression that equals the target number.
  4. Submit Your Answer:
    • Once you believe your expression is correct, click the "Submit" button.
    • The game will evaluate your expression. If it matches the target number, you'll proceed to the next level.
  5. Progress Through Levels:
    • If your expression is correct, you advance to the next level with a new target number and more challenging difficulties.
    • Continue progressing through levels until you reach the final level.

Rules

  • You must place cards in the "live area" to form a complete mathematical expression.
  • Number cards cannot be placed directly next to each other without an operation symbol between them.
  • Your expression must calculate exactly to the target number. If it does not, you'll need to rearrange or modify the expression.
  • Parentheses can be used to group parts of your expression and control the order of operations.

Tips

  • Plan Your Expression: Before placing cards, think about how different operations will affect the numbers. Consider using parentheses to group terms and control the order of calculations.
  • Start Simple: Start by testing simple combinations to get a feel for the operations and how they can be used to reach the target number.
  • Keep an Eye on the Target: Focus on getting as close as possible to the target number. If your first attempt isn't correct, try adjusting one part of the expression rather than reworking the entire thing.
  • Use All Available Resources: Use all the number and symbol cards provided. Sometimes the correct solution requires using all available cards in the correct order.
  • Practice and Experiment: The more you play, the better you'll become at quickly identifying which operations to use and how to combine numbers to reach the target.
