Thousand

Instructions

Welcome to Thousand! This game takes the standard column addition and adds a slight twist. Follow these instructions and remember, practice makes progress!

Your goal is to create three 3-digit numbers from randomly generated digits and make the sum of these numbers as close to 1000 as possible.

How to Play

  1. Start the Game: Click the "Start" button to begin the game.
  2. Generate and Place Numbers:
    • A random digit (0-9) will appear in the number display area.
    • Drag this digit to one of the empty cells in the 3x3 grid.
    • Continue dragging digits to fill all 9 cells in the grid.
  3. Forming Numbers: The grid forms three 3-digit numbers by reading across the rows. For example, if you place digits 4, 5, and 6 in the first row, this forms the number 456.
  4. Calculate the Sum: After all 9 cells are filled, add the three 3-digit numbers together. Enter the sum into the input fields provided below the grid.
  5. Submit Your Answer: Click the "Submit" button to check your total. The game will compare your calculated sum with the actual sum.
  6. Scoring: Points are awarded based on how close your total is to 1000. The closer your sum is to 1000, the higher your score. If the total is exactly 1000, you'll score the maximum points.
  7. Play Again: You can click the "Start" button to reset the game and try again.

Rules

  • You must place all 9 digits before you can submit your answer.
  • The game will not allow you to submit if all cells are not filled.
  • Your calculated sum must be correct to receive points.

Tips

  • Strategic Placement: Place higher digits where they will contribute the most to reaching 1000. For example, placing higher digits in the hundreds place of your 3-digit numbers can help increase your total faster.
  • Balance Your Numbers: Try to balance the three numbers so that their sum is close to 1000. Avoid creating numbers that are too large or too small unless you have a specific strategy.
  • Practice: The more you play, the better you’ll become at estimating where to place digits to achieve the desired sum.
